If you are unsure if your insurance carrier will cover services. You can call them to inquire if you are covered for mental health services. If you are needing family, marriage, or substance abuse counseling; ask for those specifically because some palns do not cover these type services and you will be required to pay out of pocket (self-pay) at regular cost.
HOW LONG WILL THE PROCESS TAKE?
Working with the insurance company can be very confusing at times. However, payment all depends on if your plan offers coverage for mental health type services (i.e. counseling, substance abuse counseling, family counseling, etc.) and how much your deductible is with the company. If you have a deductible associated with your account your insurance company may require that you pay 100% of the cost or a specified percentage of the cost (often referred to as Co-Pay). While some client's copay is calculated by the insurance provider, they may still required that you pay all out of pocket expences before you can recieve 100% pay out from the insurance provider. Therefore, we will not know how much you will be required to pay until after the billing process have been completed by the provider. Some company pays out to the counseling provider within 48 hours after the session. However, it may take up to 30 days for some payments to clear and we know if you have a balance. In which we will bill you for what the insurance company says that you are responsible for. I know that this process can be frustrating because you are wanting services and financial hangups can cause stress. However, no client will be charged above our regular fee per session.
We will discuss this in detail if you would like when you call to schedule a session.
